"I was so young and full of pride...", Big Country (Steeltown, 1984)

"I was so young and full of pride..." as we wandered London around after the hard work, 11 hours a day washing up dishes at an Italian restaurant or cleaning up and down the whole Pakistani hotel at Earl's Court in the company of Brazilian, Armenian, Polish, Irish...young workers like us
discovering delicious noodles with duck meat at a Chinese,
extra-spicy dishes at a Lebanese or
running away from the Hammersmith Odeon 'cos
Iron Maiden had turned British youngsters crazy and wanted to thrash those two swarthy guys
not wearing the ritual 'heavy' costumes
Then, all of a sudden a song
in a tape by Big Country at a supermarket

It's still with me loyal year after year together with Dazed and Confused violin bow brushing against Jimmy Page's electric guitar for an explosion of sound and images
"I was so young and full of pride..."
from time to Time
